Jason Holleman has served in pastoral and counseling ministry for over 30 years. Through the influence of his believing grandparents, he became involved in student ministry at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas, beginning in middle school. During his sophomore year of high school, his faith became personal as he repented and believed the Gospel, and he devoted himself to full-time vocational ministry.
After high school, Jason attended Dallas Baptist University and Blinn College. During these years he served with CrossCamp, a camping ministry that modeled life-on-life discipleship and further shaped his calling. While preparing to attend Texas A&M, he worked overseas in Moscow to help fund his education and completed his studies online. Over a two-year period he traveled to more than forty countries, developing a lasting love for the nations and a desire to see the kingdom of God advance globally.
Following graduation, Jason began studies at Dallas Theological Seminary in the winter of 1999. That same season he started dating Kristyn, whom he had met in 1997 while serving together in college ministry. Their early dating years often consisted of evenings at Barnes & Noble—Kristyn grading papers while Jason studied Greek and Hebrew. He later served as a student pastor at his home church in Richardson while continuing his seminary work. Jason and Kristyn were married in the summer of 2004 and now have four children: Preston, Lawson, Eleanor, and Henry (one of whom is in college).
From January 2003 to July 2007, Jason served at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas, first as student pastor and then as discipleship pastor. In the summer of 2007, he joined the staff of The Village Church as one of the pastors and graduated with his Master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary that fall. He continued serving at The Village Church until December 2020 in various teaching and care roles, including time at the Flower Mound campus.
In the summer of 2012, it became clear that there was no local counseling center offering distinctly biblical counsel for individuals, marriages, and those in conflict. A small group of leaders, including Jason, founded what is now North Texas Christian Counseling. Their vision was to ensure that both the structure and the content of counseling remained thoroughly biblical—avoiding the common practice of placing a Christian label on essentially secular approaches. That same year Jason began doctoral studies focused on first-century practices of spiritual formation. He completed his Doctor of Ministry (DMin) from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2017, with an emphasis in early church discipleship and spiritual formation. Jason continues to counsel from God’s Word at the center with great joy, while also preaching God’s Word each week.
In December 2020, during the COVID pandemic, he was asked to serve as Lead Pastor of Lighthouse Church, where he continues to preach through the books of the Bible and lead the church community.
Jason’s interests include reading and hunting. He and Kristyn live locally with their four children and a variety of pets, including chickens and bees. His favorite verse related to gospel-saturated biblical counseling is Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
